Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a third set.

He rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
